The Rihanna makeup line has impressed everyone with her Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. This product has been my everyday foundation for the last year. From wearing a number of different branded foundations over the years, this has become hands down my ultimate favourite.
I couldn’t wait when I heard the news of the upcoming release. When this foundation came out, I made sure I took a trip to Harvey Nichol’s store in Birmingham Mailbox. I waited in an unsurprisingly long queue, almost 60 minutes, but I didn’t give up. The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r was a must-try and for my kit!
First Impressions
My first impression of this was the lightweight creamy texture; it reminded me of my Chanel Lumiere perfection foundation. However, the Fenty shade was even better as the undertone matched my skin tone much closer. It left my skin looking soft and had a nice texture to it.
What’s even better is the multiple shades (50 shades in total), which is perfect for those different undertones. She has marketed for every shade out there, from dark-skinned girls to pale-skinned girls and everything in between.
Over the past year, I had many clients asking what foundation I have on, to the point I was buying the Fenty foundation as Birthday presents for my girlfriends, as I know this wouldn’t go unappreciated.

Application
What works best for me is when I apply the Pro Filt’r with my favourite beauty blender because it gives a beautiful natural finish to it. For parts of the skin where more product is required, I just apply more as I go along. It is medium to buildable coverage and is non-cakey even after more than one layer. It applies very smoothly and looks flawless. This isn’t a full coverage foundation, you would need to apply a few layers to obtain the desired coverage. Personally, I only use one layer.
I use it as an everyday foundation, applying a few dabs all over. I have noticed throughout the day if I don’t apply any powder, I can get oily using this later in the day, so I tend to sometimes apply powder on top. I have combination skin, so when I do have certain foundations on, some require applying powder and others don’t need any powder on top. It does depend on how long you need this to last.
Conclusion
This foundation you will either love or hate, I have recommended this foundation to a lot of people as it is one of my favourites, however, I have noticed some people love it and others were not as fond of it, purely because it didn’t work well with their skin.
So far, I have repurchased the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in the shade 280 three times as I can’t get enough of it and seem to go through it so quickly. I also think the pricing per bottle is fair, as a majority of similar calibre makeup foundations fit over the £30 margin.
Rihanna cosmetics has definitely nailed the market with the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear, I couldn’t recommend it more, and I can’t wait to try out her other products. Whether you’re a makeup artist or not, this foundation is a must-have in everyone’s kit.
